The Union of Bus Industry Workers (UBIW) has issued a stark ultimatum to the Ministry of Transport, demanding a resolution to the long-standing issue of the unpaid 14th month salary for employees within the sector.

With a mere week granted for a satisfactory response, the spectre of protest now hangs heavily in the air, as workers prepare to make their voices heard if their demands continue to be ignored.

Alain Kistnen, the union’s chief negotiator, has expressed his frustration, noting that a staggering six months have elapsed since the initial discussions commenced, yet no tangible solution has been forthcoming.

“It is also the government’s responsibility to uphold the law. These companies cannot evade their obligations,” he asserted emphatically.

Kistnen further emphasised the gravity of the situation, declaring, “The 14th month is a right.”

As the deadline approaches, the tension mounts, and the resolve of the workers remains steadfast. The call for justice in the face of neglect is clear, the time for action is now.
