6 NGOs Join Forces in New Drug Control Agency
In a significant development for local drug control, six non-governmental organisations (NGOs) alongside a representative from the Ministry of Sports are set to join the board of the forthcoming National Agency for Drug Control (NADC). Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam is poised to make these crucial appointments following consultations, as revealed by Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger during parliamentary discussions centred on the legislation establishing the NADC on Tuesday, 22nd April.
This pivotal piece of legislation aims to position the National Agency for Drug Control as the central authority in the fight against drug prevention and consumption.
During his address, Bérenger underscored the indispensable role that municipalities and district councils will play in this ongoing battle against the scourge of drugs, highlighting the collective responsibility that lies ahead.
The establishment of the NADC marks a critical step in the nation’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues, with the involvement of diverse stakeholders promising a more comprehensive approach to this pressing challenge.
