Tranquebar: A 70-Year-Old Bridge Crumbles Under Heavy Load

A bridge over 70 years old collapsed on Monday afternoon on Guillaume Giquelle Street, following the passage of a truck carrying a heavy load of earth.

Miraculously, the incident resulted in no casualties, but significant damage and traffic disruptions ensued.

Minister of Public Transport Osman Mahomed, Minister of Labour Reza Uteem, and Minister of Public Infrastructure Ajay Guness visited the site to assess the situation and reassure residents.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause and any potential responsibilities.
