MTPA Fund Misuse Allegations: 3 Former Board Members Probed by FCC

Arnaud Martin, a former member of the Board of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), was allowed to leave after giving testimony to investigators from the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) on Monday, 7 April.
Another former board member is presently under investigation, amplifying the scrutiny surrounding this significant inquiry.
This investigation is focused on allegations of financial misconduct involving the MTPA’s former director, Arvind Bundhun.
The FCC is examining dubious transactions made with MTPA credit cards from 2018 to 2024.
Whistleblower communications sent to the FCC have pointed to personal expenses purportedly charged to these cards, raising serious issues regarding financial oversight within this public organisation.
In a related case, Devi Chand Rye Seewooruthun, a Senior Chief Executive at the Ministry of Health and a former member of the MTPA board, has also been permitted to leave after her hearing.
As the inquiry progresses, with the timeline stretching from 2018 to 2024, greater understanding the escalating oversight of Mauritius’ tourism sector is being sought.
