Stormy Weather Approaches, 2.5 Metres High Waves Looming Ahead

A weather front moving in from the east brings clouds that are set to impact local conditions significantly. This 1st April will see a mottled sky, with cloud cover persisting throughout the afternoon, interspersed with occasional showers, some of which may be moderate in nature. Pockets of fog are expected to form in higher areas.

The weather bulletin released by the meteorological station this Tuesday 1st April.

As night falls, the sky will remain partly overcast to occasionally cloudy, with light rain primarily in the east, south, and across the central plateau.

Temperatures:

  • Maximum: Ranging from 24 to 27°C on the central plateau, and between 28 and 31°C along the coastal regions.
  • Minimum: Between 20 and 22°C on the central plateau, and 24 to 26°C on the coast.

Wind:
The breeze is blowing from the east-southeast at around 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.

Sea Conditions:
The sea is strong beyond the reefs, with waves nearing 2.5 metres in height.
Maritime Advisory:
Outings into open waters are not advised.

Other weather observation shows that tropical Storm Courtney is currently situated in an unfavourable environment and has weakened into a tropical depression overnight.

As of 4:00 AM, it was centred at approximately 24.9° south latitude and 88.5° east longitude.

It is moving south-southeast at about 10 km/h, with no expected impact on the weather in the Mascarenes.
