New Local Government Commission Set as Dr. Maudarbocus Takes Charge

A significant development for local governance in Mauritius has emerged with the official establishment of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC). This announcement was made in a press release from the President’s office on Monday, 31 March.
In a commendable appointment, Dr. Sahid Maudarbocus has been chosen to lead the commission as its president.
He will be joined by four other esteemed members: Soobir Sen Sewnath, Vijaye Haulder, Woomadevi Cootthen Iyempermal, and Umeshlal Basant Rai.
Together, they will serve a three-year term, shouldering the important responsibility of overseeing and improving the local government services throughout the nation.
As Mauritius embarks on this new journey of administrative governance, the LGSC’s efforts will be closely watched, with hopes high for effective and transparent governance that meets the needs of the community.
