MSM Announces Exit from 2025 Municipal Elections Race

The Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) has declared its withdrawal from the forthcoming municipal elections on 4 May 2025. This announcement was made on the afternoon of Tuesday, 25th March 2025.
The MSM and its allies were wiped out by an unambiguous 60-0 defeat in the last general elections.
“The moment has arrived for us to concentrate on rebuilding the party. Our objective is to better fulfil the hopes and expectations of the Mauritian people,” the statement read.
The MSM also highlighted its accomplishments during its time in office, asserting:
“Never before have our municipalities seen such advancements. Large-scale investments in significant projects, along with numerous local initiatives, have not jeopardised the financial stability of our cities.”
The party also reminded citizens of its abolition of the municipal tax, emphasising that towns throughout the nation now benefit from “a modern and efficient transport system with the Metro Express.”
