Damry Chairs the Government Programme Implementation Steering Committee

A High-Level Steering Committee has been set up within the Prime Minister’s Office. This committee’s primary aim is to oversee the implementation of the government programme introduced by the President of the Republic on 24 January. Dhaneshwar Damry, the Junior Minister of Finance, will take on the role of chair.
The committee is scheduled to convene on a regular basis to assess the progress of government projects, to ensure effective information sharing among ministries, and suggest ways to speed up or enhance project execution.
This was outlined in a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, 24 March.
Dhaneshwar Damry highlighted the necessity of inter-ministerial collaboration, stating,:
“We must forge connections between departments to advance in a coordinated fashion towards our goals.
Every minister, every ministry, and every parastatal organisation must establish key performance indicators (KPIs) that will assist in evaluating their outcomes and serve as a constant reminder of our commitments.”
In addition, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, who also holds the position of Minister of Finance, added:
“We are committed to the people of Mauritius in delivering on our programme, aimed at enhancing the well-being of our citizens and creating a pathway to the future. I depend on this committee to ensure the efficiency of our efforts.”
The Prime Minister has also promised to keep the nation updated on the progress of the programme’s implementation at approximately 100-day intervals.
This appointment underscores the government’s determination to uphold transparency and accountability as it seeks to honour its pledges to the Mauritian people.
