Nadeem Bissessur, a 55-year-old Mauritian, was fatally shot in Cape Town last Saturday, 22nd March. The tragedy struck while he was sitting in his car in the parking area of a shopping centre in Table View, when unidentified gunmen opened fire.

As authorities piece together the events leading up to this shocking act, South African police are exploring the chilling idea that Bissessur may have been deliberately targeted.

Initial investigations suggested that the shooters may have been tracking him, striking as he prepared to exit his vehicle.

The police have dismissed robbery as a motive, noting that his vehicle remained untouched and no belongings were taken.

This paints a stark picture of a calculated assassination.

Bissessur had only recently moved from Vallée-Pitot to South Africa, and since his arrival, he had reportedly maintained a low profile, with little contact with relatives and friends back home.

His past, however, was shadowed by controversy; the Mauritian police were well aware of him due to his links to a prominent Port-Louis businessman mentioned in the Lam Shang Leen report.

Additionally, Bissessur faced prior legal troubles, having been arrested by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) on charges of money laundering, adding further complexity to his story.

Known as the “right-hand man” to the businessman in question, the details surrounding his untimely death have stirred considerable interest among law enforcement.

In response, South African police have issued a call for witnesses, stepping up their investigation into Bissessur’s connections in Cape Town to find clarity in this distressing case.

Thus far, the Central Police Station in Mauritius has yet to receive any official communication from their South African counterparts regarding requests for cooperation or information concerning Bissessur.

Meanwhile, the Mauritian Embassy in South Africa is expected to keep a vigilant eye on developments, prepared to relay vital information back to Port-Louis as this unsettling investigation continues to unfold.
