Yanilla Moonshiram Appointed Part-Time Chair of Law Reform Commission

The Law Reform Commission has appointed lawyer Yanilla Moonshiram as its part-time chair. This decision received the backing of the Cabinet during a meeting on Friday 21st March, highlighting the importance of her leadership in driving essential reforms for the country.

In addition to this pivotal appointment, the Cabinet also approved the accreditation of Dr. Milan Jaya Nyamrajsingh Meetarbhan (GOSK), who will represent Mauritius at the International Seabed Authority (ISA).

This organisation is charged with the vital responsibility of protecting the marine environment from the adverse effects of deep-sea activities.

Furthermore, the Cabinet meeting paved the way for the reconstitution of several other significant boards:

  • Ritesh Sumputh is set to assume the role of part-time chair of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute.
  • Dr. Dhanandjay Kawol will be the part-time chair of the Mauritius Cane Industry board.
  • Kailash Bheenick will serve as part-time chair of the Sugar Insurance Fund.
  • Danirow Bhiwajee will lead the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust as its part-time chair.
