Mauritius on High Alert for Thunderstorms & Heavy Rain until 7pm

A heavy rain warning has been issued for Mauritius, set to take effect from noon until 7 pm this Wednesday, 19th March 2025. This alert was released by the meteorological station at 4:30 am, as foreseen weather challenges loom on the horizon.

The current atmospheric conditions in our region are warm, humid, and unstable, setting the stage for the development of active cloud formations throughout the day.

Where it’s going to rain

Residents should brace for moderate to heavy rain showers, with possible thunderstorms particularly affecting the Western, North-Western, and Central Plateau areas this afternoon.

These showers may continue into the evening.

In light of these anticipated weather disturbances, the following safety measures are recommended during thunderstorms:

  1. Find Shelter: Stay indoors and avoid open areas, hiking, or activities at sea. It’s best to keep away from trees or tall structures during this time.
  2. Avoid Flood-Prone Zones: Stay clear of areas that are known to collect water.
  3. Drive Carefully: Exercise caution when driving, as downpours and fog could significantly reduce visibility.

Stay safe, remain vigilant, and keep tuned for ongoing weather updates.
