Global Equestrian Ltd Withdraws from Horse Racing

Global Equestrian Ltd has confirmed the cessation of its activities in the horse racing industry, acting under the governance of the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA). The firm has opted not to renew its operating licence for its equestrian centre located at Petit Gamin, Le Goulet, Balaclava.

In a correspondence directed to the appropriate authorities, Global Equestrian Ltd stated its intention not to continue as a licensed equestrian centre in accordance with the Rules of Racing.

Furthermore, it will no longer manage racehorses under the GRA Act.

This marks a pivotal moment for a company originally founded to avert the potential collapse of the horse racing sector after the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC) suspended racing in March 2022.

With the MTC resuming operations at the Champ de Mars in August 2024, Global Equestrian Ltd has decided that its involvement is no longer necessary.

The company reiterated that it never intended to compete with the MTC, refuting claims made by certain media and social media platforms.

Its primary aim was simply to ensure the continued existence of racing during a time of uncertainty for the equestrian community.

As this phase concludes, those within the equestrian world reflect on the contributions made by Global Equestrian Ltd during a challenging period in the industry’s recent past.
