The initiative linking La Vigie, La Brasserie, and Beaux-Songes is approaching its final stages, as the flyover at La Vigie, towering over the M1 motorway, has reached an impressive 85% completion. Expected to commence operations by mid-April, this crucial development is poised to significantly alter the local traffic scenario.

During a visit to the site, Ajay Gunness, the Minister of National Infrastructure, shared his enthusiasm, asserting:

“This project will enhance traffic flow and help reduce congestion, thereby improving the experience of road users and motorists.

With the flyover now 85% complete, we will be able to separate northbound and southbound traffic on the M1 from local traffic on the New La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes Link Road.

Consequently, drivers will no longer need to detour through the La Vigie roundabout when heading south or navigate the Midland flyover.”

In addition, Minister Gunness stopped by Trianon, where the construction of a pedestrian bridge is underway near Margarine Industries Ltd along the M1.

Similar to the La Vigie structure, this footbridge is being built by General Construction, with costs amounting to Rs 20 million, and is scheduled for completion next month.

The Minister emphasised, “The new footbridge at Trianon will greatly enhance pedestrian safety, incorporating designs akin to those of the bridge adjacent to the Victoria Urban Terminal in Port Louis.”
