Weather Alert: Brace for Heavy Rain & Thunderstorms as from 12H

A Heavy Rain Watch has been announced for Mauritius at 04:30 on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, effective from 12:00 until 19:00 this evening. Current atmospheric conditions are setting the stage for the formation of active clouds across our region.
Localised moderate showers are anticipated in the afternoon, particularly in the southern parts of the island, to the east, and over the Central Plateau.
These showers could become quite heavy at times and may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Residents should brace for possible water accumulation in flood-prone areas.
Additionally, certain regions may experience reduced visibility due to fog and rainfall, posing challenges for travel.
Given these developments, the public is strongly encouraged to:
- Remain indoors, avoiding open areas, hiking, or sheltering under trees during thunderstorms.
- Keep away from areas susceptible to water buildup.
- Exercise utmost caution while driving, as visibility may be significantly impaired.
Please stay vigilant and prioritise your safety.
