Lawyers of Ex-Police Chief Withdraw, Case Unravels in Court

The legal conflict between former Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip and the Director of Public Prosecutions, Me Rashid Ahmine, took an unexpected turn on 10th March. During a court hearing overseen by Chief Judge Rehana Mungly-Gulbul, Shamila Sonah Ori – counsel and lawyers for Mr Dip, officially requested to withdraw from the case.
The judge granted the request, allowing the State Law Office (SLO) to take over the representation of the newly appointed Police Commissioner, Rampersad Sooroojebally.
Following this pivotal change, the SLO promptly filed a motion to withdraw the application that Mr Dip had previously submitted, acting on his own wishes.
With no objections raised by the other parties involved, Chief Judge Mungly-Gulbul approved the motion, effectively concluding the proceedings related to the case.
