Navin Ramgoolam: “We Shall Build a Fairer and More Equitable Nation”

In an address on the 9th March, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam expressed his profound disappointment at the lack of female representation in the political arena. Speaking at an awards ceremony at the MGI in Moka, held in honour of International Women’s Day, he underscored the urgent need to encourage more women to step into political roles and decision-making bodies.
“The aim set by this government is clear: to ensure that more women occupy key positions, especially within the public service and public institutions,” Ramgoolam stated emphatically.
He lamented that, despite the progress made, too few women are engaging in politics, recognising the pivotal role they play in shaping a robust and inclusive society.
“This government will do what is necessary: we will build a country that is fairer and more equitable,” he declared with determination, reminding all present that the journey towards equality is a shared responsibility.
As this day is commemorated, Ramgoolam’s words resonate as a clarion call for change, urging all sectors of society to unite in the quest for gender parity and representation.
