On Monday, 3rd March 2025, the aviation community was shaken as a head cabin crew member from Air Mauritius was found to have tested positive for prohibited substances at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. The shocking revelation was confirmed by Air Mauritius in a statement released late on Friday 7th March evening.

According to the statement, the Gendarmerie du Transport Aérien (GTA) conducted routine checks on all crew members at Charles de Gaulle Airport prior to their boarding for flight MK 015, destined for Mauritius.

It was during this standard procedure that the head cabin member tested positive, prompting their immediate detention for further analysis, including blood tests.

Air Mauritius disclosed that the results unequivocally confirmed the presence of banned substances.

Consequently, French authorities detained the crew member before releasing on bail, but not before imposing a flight ban across the French territory.

The affected individual was subsequently repatriated as a passenger the following morning.

In light of these serious developments, the cabin chief has been suspended from duty pending further review.

An official report from the French authorities is awaited, after which a disciplinary committee will convene to determine the appropriate course of action based on the findings.

Air Mauritius has reiterated its commitment to safety and strict adherence to regulations, declaring a zero-tolerance policy towards substance abuse.

The airline expressed its utmost seriousness regarding the incident and assured full cooperation with the relevant authorities.
