CEB Plans Time-of-Use Tariffs for 3 Sustainable Objectives

In a move to reshape the landscape of energy pricing, the Central Electricity Board (CEB) has announced plans to implement a variable tariff system influenced by the hours of electricity consumption. This revelation was made public this morning by the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Patrick Assirvaden, during a workshop dedicated to energy efficiency.
Minister Assirvaden highlighted the pressing challenges faced by the CEB, particularly between the hours of 6 PM and 9 PM, when energy demand soars to unprecedented levels.
He emphasised that during this peak period, the strain on the electricity supply is particularly acute, warranting immediate attention and action.
“The need for energy efficiency is no longer a mere option; it has become an absolute necessity for our nation,” Assirvaden declared.
As the call for sustainable practices grows louder, the proposed time-of-use tariffs aim to encourage consumers to shift their usage to off-peak times, potentially alleviating the burden on the CEB and promoting a more equitable distribution of energy resources.
As the CEB moves forward with this initiative, the implications for both consumers and the energy market at large are profound.
Be prepared to face the realities of fluctuating energy costs to ensure a more sustainable future.
