Bruneau Laurette Calls for Inquiry into his 2022 Arrest
Bruneau Laurette has demanded a thorough investigation into his arrest in 2022, insisting that it was a product of political machinations. Laurette recently filed a formal complaint against former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, the ex-commissioner of police, and Mauritius Telecom, linked to the scandal of illegal phone recordings.
On Monday, February 3rd, he delivered a fresh statement alleging a sinister plot aimed at framing him for illegal possession of firearms and drugs, an incident he claims took place on November 4th, 2022.
He is calling for an independent inquiry to expose the truth behind these serious accusations, asserting he is ready to provide compelling evidence to establish his innocence.
Laurette considered his arrest was masterminded to undermine him, asserts that drugs and a firearm were deliberately planted in his vehicle to incriminate him.
After enduring more than two months in detention, he was granted conditional release by the Moka Court on February 27, 2023.
Since then, he has tirelessly pursued justice, seeking to clear his name.
In his complaint, he has included a copy of an affidavit dated February 23, 2023, outlining various arguments to contest the legality of his arrest.
He also referenced a YouTube video titled “Vimen Leaks – The Explosive Soundtrack,” which he claimed supports his assertions.
Laurette insisted that he is in possession of critical documents, videos, and audio recordings that he is prepared to share with authorities to reinforce his case.
He has urged that his complaint be forwarded to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
For him, it is imperative that this matter is treated as a politically motivated conspiracy.
He remains hopeful that the police will conduct an impartial investigation into his claims.
