Plaisance Airport: MRA Busted Rs 58 M Cannabis Involving American Nationals

At Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport in Plaisance, two American nationals were apprehended on Saturday, 1st March, in connection with a major drug smuggling operation. The suspects, a 38-year-old man, Kristopher Joseph Gorr, and a 35-year-old woman, Natalie Jene Buor, were intercepted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section of the Mauritius Revenue Authority and the Airport Drug Suppression Unit (ADSU) during a routine baggage check.
Upon inspection of their luggage, a staggering 48.3 kilograms of cannabis was uncovered, ingeniously concealed within their possessions.
The cannabis, thought to be compressed herbs, has an alarming estimated street value of Rs 58 million.
Defi Media sources revealed that the duo had arrived in Mauritius on a flight originating from Dubai, raising questions about the extent and origins of this international drug trafficking network.
In response to this serious offence, Gorr and Buor are set to face charges of drug importation at Mahébourg Court this 3rd March.
The investigation, spearheaded by Assistant Superintendent of Police Goinden, along with Chief Inspector Doss, is conducted under the supervision of Superintendent Ghoora of the ADSU at the airport.
