SAFETY Alert: Cyclone Garance Still Poses Danger for Mauritius

A safety advisory is in effect for Mauritius as the nation grapples with the aftermath of Cyclone Garance. The twenty-second cyclone bulletin, issued on Friday, 28th February 2025, at 07:10, confirms that the intense tropical cyclone has begun to move away from the island. However, the dangers are far from over.
At 07:00, Cyclone Garance was located approximately 220 km west of Port Louis, moving southwards at around 10 km/h.
Forecasts predicted that the cyclone will continue on this path, gradually distancing itself from the island. Nevertheless, the weather conditions are still perilous.
The sky remains overcast, with showers ranging from moderate to heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms.
These downpours are likely to cause temporary water accumulation and localized flooding in certain areas.
The public is urgently advised to stay sheltered and maintain heightened vigilance amid these treacherous conditions.
