Financial Intelligence Unit: Pertab Appointed as Director

Lovania Devina Ouma Pyndiah Pertab has been appointed as the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), a crucial entity operating under the Ministry of Financial Services and Economic Planning.

Dr. Jyoti Jeetun, the Minister of Financial Services, has warmly welcomed Pertab’s appointment to lead this vital institution, emphasising its pivotal role in maintaining the credibility, integrity, and reputation of Mauritius as a robust and respected financial centre.

The Minister stated through a press release issued on Tuesday, 25 February:

“The FIU is facing numerous challenges ahead and must be adequately equipped in terms of personnel and control systems to effectively combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

With the mutual evaluation exercise by ESAAMLG scheduled for less than two years from now, Mauritius must solidify its position. Thus, I wholeheartedly support this appointment.”
