Pilgrimage: The Road from La Marie to Grand-Bassin is Now One-Way

The worshippers once again began their pilgrimage towards the sacred lake of Grand-Bassin. It is that time of year again, when thousands of Mauritians, devoted to the Hindu faith, gather to honour the auspicious Maha Shivaratri, set to be celebrated this coming Wednesday.

Devotees from every corner of the nation are already on the move, singing heartfelt prayers as they journey towards Ganga Talao.

The atmosphere is charged with spiritual fervour, a testament to the deep-rooted traditions binding the community together.

Weekend 22-23 February, an overwhelming number of pilgrims is anticipated, and in preparation, the police have implemented a strategic traffic diversion plan.

The road from La Marie leading to Grand-Bassin has been converted to one-way since 10 AM on Saturday, 22nd February.

This measure, as confirmed by ASP Ashok Matar during a broadcast on RadioPlus, aims to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the great influx of worshippers.

As the days draw closer to the festival, the unity and devotion of the Mauritian people shine ever brighter.
