58-Yr-Old Tourist Found Dead Near Île-aux-Bénitiers

Tragedy struck near Île-aux-Bénitiers on Monday, 10 February, as the lifeless body of a 58-year-old Austrian tourist was recovered from the lagoon. Local volunteers bravely pulled her from the water, only to see hopes of saving her dashed.

Emergency responders rushed her to Dr Yves Cantin Hospital, with officers from Rivière-Noire desperately trying to revive her.

Regrettably, the attending physician was forced to pronounce her dead upon arrival.

An autopsy is set to be conducted this evening to determine the circumstances surrounding this heart-wrenching loss.

The tourist had intended to depart Mauritius on the 17th of February, a date now tinged with sorrow.
