The Vacoas Meteorological Station has issued a heavy rain warning , this Monday -10 February, at 2 PM set to remain in effect until 7 PM this evening.
Currently, moderate to heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, are affecting the eastern part of the island and parts of the central plateau.
These treacherous weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
As rain accumulates, there is a risk of flooding in vulnerable areas.
Furthermore, visibility may be significantly reduced due to fog and ongoing precipitation in certain regions.
In light of this severe weather forecast, authorities strongly advise the public to adhere to the following precautions:
- Remain indoors and avoid open spaces. Steer clear of hiking and do not seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
- Keep away from areas prone to flooding.
- Exercise caution while driving, as visibility may be drastically impaired.
