Goodlands: Illegal Water Pumping from an Aquifer

The Central Water Authority’s Fraud Unit, alongside local police, descended upon a fruit orchard in Beau-Plateau, Goodlands, on Tuesday, 4 February. Acting on specific intelligence, the officers uncovered a water pump illicitly connected to an aquifer, with a pipe leading to a truck’s reservoir.

However, as they arrived, they found the scene eerily deserted, the pump silent and inactive, and no one in sight.

This disturbing revelation raises critical questions about unauthorised water extraction, as the CWA had not issued a Ground Water License for the exploitation of this aquifer.

In response to this serious violation, the police have launched a thorough investigation.
