Fresh Incident on Super U Grand-Baie Escalator, Four Injured

On Wednesday afternoon, February 5, an incident occurred on the escalator leading to the Courts store at Grand-Baie Cœur de Ville. In a statement released later that evening, management reported that a minor accident took place while an elderly person, accompanied by three others, was using the escalator to reach the upper level.

Unfortunately, the individual lost their balance, prompting a domino effect that caused the two people right behind them to fall.

The fourth group member, who was further ahead, attempted to descend the escalator in the opposite direction but stumbled and also fell.

According to the management’s statement, the four affected individuals were promptly assisted and transported to the Clinique du Nord. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

Management is closely monitoring the situation and expressed satisfaction with the escalator’s safety system, which functioned as intended during the incident.

They took this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of being cautious while using escalators and to always grip the safety railings, as indicated on all their installations.
