$110m Surveillance Phone System Under Former Regime Exposed

In a startling revelation, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has stated that all telephone conversations and messages intercepted during the previous regime were recorded. He made this claim during a parliamentary session on Tuesday, 4 February, in response to a question from Deputy Adrien Duval, a member of the PMSD party.
Ramgoolam explained that his assertions were based on findings from an investigation conducted by international experts.
Deputy Duval wanted to know if phone tapping was still a common practice.
In reply, Ramgoolam assured him that such intrusive actions had ceased since he assumed office.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the staggering costs of the surveillance system established by the former government, revealing that it had set the state back a hefty $110 million.
