Victim’s Brave Survival After Tormenting Kidnapping, 2 Abductors Detained

In a chilling account from his hospital bed, Ridwaan Khodabaccus has opened up about his kidnapping in Grand-Baie. The 31-year-old resident of Plaine-Verte was abducted on Thursday night and subjected to a brutal ordeal.For hours, Ridwaan endured torment at the hands of around fifteen armed men, who initially demanded a staggering ransom of Rs 25 million.
This demand was later lowered to Rs 2 million.
After 36 harrowing hours and failed negotiations, Ridwaan was eventually released, abandoned in Terre-Rouge.
As the investigation unfolds, the Grand-Baie Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has already made three arrests, including two bouncers involved in the case.
Arrests Made in Khodabaccus Kidnapping Case

Among those detained are Donovan Rousseau, 38, and Raoul Natnarsingh, 37, both employed in security roles—Rousseau at a nightclub and residing in Palmar, while Natnarsingh calls Belle-Mare home.
They now face preliminary charges of kidnapping and assault.
The shocking incident has sparked a significant police response to locate Ridwaan, who had been forcibly taken from near a restaurant.
On Friday afternoon, 31 January, the vehicle used in the abduction was found in Mon Loisir, Rivière-du-Rempart.
Late that night, officers from the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit received tips that the primary suspects were seen driving a maroon car, leading to their swift interception in Goodlands.
Further investigation has revealed suspicions surrounding Donovan Rousseau, who may be linked to several similar cases in which victims were extorted for large sums of money.
However, no official reports have been filed, as many victims fear retaliation. The police are urgently appealing for these individuals to come forward.
