Star Knitwear Group Ltd: 240 Employees Face Job Losses

A cloud of uncertainty is now hanging over 240 employees at Star Knitwear Group Ltd. These workers were blindsided this week when they received their redundancy letters, sent between January 31 and February 3. Shockingly, many of them first learned about their fate from reports in the press, revealing that the textile factory is making significant operational, financial, and structural cuts, resulting in the elimination of nearly a quarter of its workforce.

Amidst this upheaval, anxiety is now looming over the employees regarding their severance pay.

Many are deeply concerned about receiving fair compensation for their years of dedicated service.

In response to the distressing news, the Confederation of Public and Private Sector Workers (CTSP) has scheduled a meeting with the affected employees on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 4, to discuss the next steps and potential actions to take.

When approached for a comment, the management referred Radio Plus to an official statement, citing the company’s decision as a necessary response to ongoing financial losses, rising costs, and a decline in production.

In this hour of crisis, the voices of the affected workers and their union echo the broader struggle faced by many in the industry, as they stand at the precipice of an uncertain future, grappling with the harsh realities of job insecurity.
