Report on Departure Issued Against Ex-Minister Maneesh Gobin

A shadow looms over Maneesh Gobin, the former minister, as the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) has issued a Report on Departure against him on 31 January connected to the Stag Party investigation. This important development was followed by a formal notification sent to the Commissioner of Police, signaling the intensity of the scrutiny Gobin now faces.
The inquiry was originally instigated by the now-defunct anti-corruption commission (ICAC) back in 2023, spurred by the revelations surrounding the Franklin affair.
Whispers within the corridors of power suggested that a hefty bribe was allegedly paid to secure a 273-hectare lease near the serene Grand-Bassin, painting a troubling picture of corruption.
As the investigation unfolds, it has already resulted in the arrests of two notable figures: the former PPS, Rajanah Daliah, and Rajesh Ramnarain, the previous president of the Sugar Investment Trust.
Both have since been released on bail, but the drama continues to deepen, leaving many wondering what further might be unearthed in this scandal.
