BSP Director Arrested by the FCC, Faces Court Hearing

Sham Mathura, the director of the BSP Group and former campaign manager for the Alliance Lepep in the Moka/Quartier-Militaire constituency, was arrested on January 23 morning by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). He is set to appear in the Port-Louis court
His arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation involving the Youth Employment Programme (YEP), which is overseen by the Ministry of Labour.
Reports indicated that Mathura allegedly recruited 12 young individuals under this programme, promising them a monthly allowance of Rs 8,000 each.
The arrangement stipulated that half of this amount, or Rs 4,000, would be reimbursed by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).
However, it is claimed that the company failed to disburse these promised allowances to the recruited youths, despite having received the allocated funds from the authorities.
The investigation is still underway as authorities strive to uncover the full extent of this situation and ensure accountability.
