The Place d’Armes will be closed to traffic Wednesday 22 and Friday 24, according to a police announcement. This closure is due to the traditional police parade that takes place at the start of a new government session of the National Assembly, which is held in front of the Government House.

On Wednesday, January 22, the square will be shut down for rehearsals.

On Friday, January 24, the square will be closed for the actual parade, preceding the program speech delivered by the President of the Republic.

Starting at 1 PM on both days, streets leading to the Place d’Armes will be closed off.

Vehicles approaching from Pope Hennessy Street will be redirected to Mallefille, La Chaussée, and Révérend Lebrun Streets.

Those coming from Bell-Village will be directed to either Louis Pasteur Street or the Caudan roundabout.

Traffic from the south will also be rerouted to Louis Pasteur Street.

Additionally, the taxi stand that is usually located at the Place d’Armes will be relocated to Sir William Newton Street.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid congestion and delays during these closures.
