New Ophthalmology Surgery Unit Opens at Flacq Hospital

A new Ophthalmology Surgery Unit (OSU) has officially opened at the SAJ Hospital in Flacq, representing a significant advancement in healthcare access and ophthalmological treatment for the local population. The inauguration ceremony took place on January 17 in the presence of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Anil Bachoo.
Minister Bachoo outlined the main objectives of the new unit, emphasizing its dual purpose.
First, it aims to decentralize ophthalmological services, bringing them closer to communities that previously had limited access.
Second, it is expected to significantly reduce waiting times for surgical procedures, allowing patients to receive timely care.
The Minister also noted that ophthalmology services are already available at the Moka Eye Hospital and the Souillac Hospital, further enhancing the healthcare network in the region.
The establishment of the OSU at Flacq Hospital is expected to strengthen these services and provide much-needed support to the area’s residents.
