Sangeetha Ramkelawon has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of BCP Bank (Mauritius), a subsidiary of the pan-African banking group Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP). She succeeds Abdelwafi Atif, who has taken on the role of heading another subsidiary within the group.

In announcing her appointment, Kamal Mokdad, CEO of BCP and its international operations, emphasized that Ramkelawon’s leadership is aligning with the bank’s ongoing strategy focused on innovation, performance, and sustained growth.

“BCP Bank (Mauritius) has reported solid financial results in recent years. This appointment is a pivotal step in strengthening our momentum in a rapidly changing banking environment,” he stated.

Ramkelawon expressed her commitment to enhancing the bank’s position in the Mauritian banking landscape while continuing to innovate in response to client needs.

“We aim to solidify our status as a key player in the Mauritian banking sector while driving economic growth in the region and meeting future challenges,” she said.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, Ramkelawon brings a wealth of strategic and operational expertise gained from her work with international banking groups across Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Since 2018, she has served as Deputy Chief Executive of BCP Bank (Mauritius), where she played a crucial role in strengthening the bank’s positioning, fostering growth, and enhancing its international profile.

In addition to her new role, Ramkelawon is a member of the Board of Directors of Mauritius Finance and served as its Vice President in 2023. She is also an alternate director of the Mauritius Bankers Association.
