EIA Permit for Atalian’s 5-Star Hotel Plans Revoked

The Ministry of Environment has revoked the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit for Atalian Global Services Ltd. The revocation was primarily due to the expiration of the company’s lease. Atalian had plans to construct a five-star hotel in the Les Salines Peninsula area of Rivière Noire.
Carina Gounden, a member of the collective Aret Kokin Nou Plaz, views this decision as a strong message from the authorities.
She argued that the project should have never been granted a permit in the first place, stating that “the site is ecologically sensitive.”
Gounden’s remarks highlighted ongoing concerns about environmental protections in the region and the impact of tourism development on fragile ecosystems.
