On Tuesday, January 14, Rao Ramah, the former director of the National Transport Corporation (CNT), and his father were released following their interrogation by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). The questioning of Rao Ramah is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct involving contracts for security services, the purchase of buses, tires, and uniforms within the national transportation company.

Last week, FCC officers conducted searches at both residences of Rao Ramah, during which several electronic devices were seized, including some belonging to his father, Sam Ramah.

The elder Ramah was also interrogated in connection with these devices.

During his questioning, Sam Ramah confirmed that some of the seized equipment was indeed his and had been used by his son.

The interrogation of Sam Ramah took place with his lawyer, Me Ganessen Mooneesawmy, present.

The seized devices are now set to be examined by the FCC’s IT Unit.

According to Defi Media sources, investigators no longer require Sam Ramah’s participation; however, Rao Ramah must remain available for further questioning.

He is scheduled to be interrogated again on January 15.

It is important to note that the FCC launched its investigation following a complaint submitted via a letter to the Réduit Triangle, which highlighted four bidding processes currently under scrutiny.

Among these are a security services contract and a contract for employee uniforms.

Additionally, FCC officers raided the CNT’s offices in Vacoas on January 8, seizing multiple documents related to contract allocations.
