1 Truck, Several Crashes: Driver Under the Influence of Drugs
A traffic accident in Ste-Croix has led to the arrest of a truck driver who tested positive for drugs, according to a police report. The driver, a Malagasy national residing in Grande-Rivière-Nord-Ouest, was behind the wheel of a waste collection truck that was involved in a series of collisions on Cocoterie Road.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon, January 9, when the truck struck a motorcyclist, crashed into a surrounding wall, and collided with a parked motorcycle.
The driver’s reckless journey ended when the truck smashed into the wall of a local business.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the Abercrombie police station found the driver partially outside the truck’s cabin.
He was subsequently arrested on charges of “dangerous driving resulting in injury.”
The injured motorcyclist was transported to Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital for treatment and was later released to return home.
