Health Ministry’s Reorganization: 3 Key Appointments Announced

In a significant move aimed at revitalizing the Ministry of Health, Jaya Veerapen, the former Senior Chief Executive of the ministry, has made a notable return to the Emmanuel Anquetil Building as Senior Adviser. This decision came in light of new Minister Anil Bachoo’s recognition of the pressing challenges facing the healthcare sector.

To address these issues effectively, Minister Bachoo has enlisted the expertise of seasoned professionals in public health.

Alongside Veerapen, Dr. Vassen Pauvaday and Dr. Vasantrao Gujadhur, both former directors of health services, are joining the team to assist in reorganizing a system that has struggled to function properly.

In addition to their dedicated efforts, there are discussions about potentially hiring these professionals on a contract basis to enhance the ministry’s capacity further.

The newly formed team is set to tackle several critical priorities within the healthcare system, including the rising cost of medications, the welfare of dialysis patients, and concerns related to human metapneumovirus, among other pressing issues.
