Yagianath Rosunee Appointed MT’s Officer in Charge , Kapil Reesaul Out
In a significant shake-up at Mauritius Telecom (MT), Kapil Reesaul has stepped down from his position as CEO following a series of troubling events, including a reported suicide attempt by the company’s former Head of Procurement and allegations of misconduct within the organization.
The announcement of Reesaul’s resignation was made via a press release from Mauritius Telecom on Tuesday, December 31.
The company confirmed that his resignation took effect immediately.
In the wake of these developments, Yagianath Rosunee has been appointed as the Officer in Charge of Mauritius Telecom.
The circumstances leading to Reesaul’s resignation became particularly concerning on December 23, when the former Head of Procurement reportedly attempted suicide.
Just two days later, on December 24, Ravi Boolakee, the current Head of Service Management with over 33 years of experience at MT, filed a complaint with the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), formerly known as the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
In his complaint, Boolakee accused Reesaul of engaging in illegal activities purportedly occurring since he took office.
Boolakee also called on other employees of Mauritius Telecom to come forward and speak out against any wrongdoing they may have experienced or may have been compelled to participate in at the behest of others.
This internal turmoil at Mauritius Telecom raised serious concerns about governance within the company and highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in corporate leadership.
Further developments are anticipated as the FCC investigates the allegations against Reesaul and the broader implications for Mauritius Telecom.
