Airport Entities’ CEO Steps Down

Pavan Baichoo has officially announced his resignation from his positions as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airports of Mauritius Ltd (AML), Airport Terminal Operations Ltd (ATOL), and Mauritius Duty-Free Paradise Ltd (MDFP). His resignation was communicated to the staff on Wednesday, December 17, marking the end of his tenure in these significant roles.
Baichoo’s departure came just a day after the return of former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and his family from a two-week trip in Europe.
Demonstrating his loyalty, Baichoo was present at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport on Monday, December 16, to welcome Jugnauth and his family, who arrived on an Emirates flight around 9:10 AM.
A resident of Triolet, Pavan Baichoo is known for his close ties to the leadership of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM).
Before assuming the helm of these strategic airport entities under Airport Holdings Ltd, he served as an advisor to former Labour Minister Soodesh Callichurn.
Baichoo was notably active in Callichurn’s campaigns during the 2014 and 2019 elections.
His time in the spotlight was also marked by a complaint he filed with the Central Criminal Investigation Department in October 2019, accusing political opponent Dinesh Ramjuttun of “falsehoods”.
Baichoo joined ATOL as CEO in September 2022 and was appointed CEO of AML in May 2023.
Most recently, he took on leadership of MDFP, the state-owned company managing duty-free shops at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and other locations.
