2 New Fatal Accidents on Mauritian Roads Over the Weekend

The toll of road accidents is rising in Mauritius, with two motorcyclists tragically losing their lives over the weekend. On Sunday, December 15, a tragic incident occurred in Riche-en-Eau. Lorenzo Laval, a 31-year-old resident of Saint-Hilaire, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle, leading to a violent crash where he veered off the road and collided with a tree.

Emergency services were alerted promptly, but, regrettably, they were unable to save him.

An autopsy later confirmed that his death resulted from multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the accident.

In another heartbreaking incident, a family in D’Épinay has been plunged into mourning.

A man in his fifties, who had been in the intensive care unit at Flacq Hospital since December 9, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, December 14.

Initial reports suggested that he encountered a dog while riding his motorcycle, which caused him to lose his balance and be violently thrown to the ground.

These incidents highlighted the urgent need for greater awareness and safety measures on the roads to prevent further tragedies.
