Anabelle Savabaddy Criticizes Water Access Issues in Crève-Cœur

During a parliamentary session on Tuesday, December 10, Anabelle Savabaddy, a member of the ruling party, raised critical concerns regarding the ongoing issue of access to potable water for households on Rivalland Street in Crève-Cœur. Directing her inquiry to the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Patrick Assirvaden, she highlighted the struggles faced by residents in the area, asserting that many families are still not connected to the Central Water Authority (CWA) network.
In his response, Minister Assirvaden indicated that “22 households along Rivalland Road in Crève-Cœur are not registered customers with the CWA.”
He further explained that the authority had required these residents to submit an official request in order to gain access to a new water connection.
However, he noted that, so far, “no applications have been received from the residents.”
Savabaddy found this answer unsatisfactory, insisting that the reality on the ground contradicts the information provided by the minister.
“Your responses are not adequate. We have been on-site. Several of these residents are not connected to the network. It is not just 22 families, but 50,” she countered.
In response to her remarks, Minister Assirvaden reiterated the importance of submitting an official application as a necessary step for the CWA to take action.
Nonetheless, he acknowledged the scale of work required to address this issue, explaining, “It will be necessary to install 500 meters of piping and to enhance the existing pumping system.”
Assuring Savabaddy that the government intends to act swiftly once the administrative processes are completed by the affected residents, he stated, “Whether it is 22 or 50 families, they must submit a request to the CWA, and I promise that they will be connected very quickly.”
Despite Minister Patrick Assirvaden’s assurance of a quick response contingent upon the submission of official requests, the discrepancies in reported household numbers indicate a deeper challenge requiring immediate attention.
