$6 Million Donation for Mosque Renovation: Document Reportedly Missing

A document related to a $6 million (approximately Rs 282 million) donation from Saudi Arabia for the renovation of mosques has reportedly gone missing, according to Ritesh Ramful, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During a session at the National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon, December 10, Minister Ramful made this startling revelation in response to a question posed by MP Eshan Juman.
The minister explained that the document in question was sent from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister’s Office on September 6 but has since disappeared.
Ramful emphasized that no funds have been disbursed for the mosque renovations as of now.
In light of this situation, he has instructed his officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the whereabouts of the missing documents related to this financial transaction.
This situation raised concerns about transparency and accountability in handling significant foreign donations, particularly those tied to religious institutions.
Further developments are expected as the investigation proceeds.
