Serious Accident Leaves 19-Yr-Old Motorcyclist in Critical Condition

A 19-year-old motorcyclist, Emmanuel Begue, is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit at Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port-Louis following a severe traffic accident early Sunday morning, December 8.

The accident occurred around 4:15 AM when Begue was riding his motorcycle and collided with a car driven by a 30-year-old resident of Vacoas.

According to reports, when police officers from the local station arrived at the scene, Begue was already on the way to the hospital in an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Services.

Witnesses claimed that the driver of the car fled the scene, abandoning both his vehicle and an accompanying friend, likely due to an angry crowd that had gathered.

Emmanuel Begue’s condition is described as critical, and he has been placed on artificial ventilation while being monitored in the neurology department of the intensive care unit.

Authorities have stated that the driver of the vehicle will be questioned by officers from the Vacoas police station as they work to locate him for further investigation.
