Customs Seize 17.2 kg of Cannabis in Madagascar Transit

On December 8, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Section of Customs (MRA CANS) successfully seized 17.2 kg of cannabis, valued at an estimated Rs 20,640,000, during a targeted operation involving a package in transit.
The shipment, which was declared as personal belongings, caught the attention of authorities due to several risk indicators and a history of previous seizures associated with similar parcels.
Upon inspection, customs agents uncovered 16 wrapped packages of cannabis hidden inside a box.
A preliminary test confirmed the presence of the illegal substance, and a narcotics detection dog employed by the MRA also reacted positively, providing further evidence of the drug’s presence.
The confiscated materials have since been secured and transferred to the Airport Drug and Trafficking Unit (ADSU) for ongoing investigation.
