As of 4 AM this morning, December 9, a tropical depression was located approximately 1,245 kilometers northeast of Mauritius, at latitude 11.9° south and longitude 65.6° east. According to the Vacoas meteorological station, the system is moving westward at a speed of around 20 km/h. While there is potential for further intensification, it currently poses no direct impact on weather conditions in Mauritius.

In the afternoon, cloud development is expected in the northwest and central plateau, along with localized showers that could intensify to moderate levels.

The sky will remain partly cloudy in other areas.

Meteorologists predicted an improvement in weather conditions in the evening; however, clouds moving in from the south may bring showers to the southern regions and elevated areas late at night.

Temperature Forecast:

  • Maxima:
  • 25 to 28 °C on the central plateau
  • 30 to 33 °C along the coast
  • Minima:
  • 20 to 22 °C on the central plateau
  • 23 to 25 °C in coastal areas

Wind and Sea Conditions:

  • Wind: Initially light and variable this morning, shifting gradually to a southeasterly direction at approximately 15 km/h throughout the day.
  • Sea: Rough conditions are expected beyond the reefs, with wave heights reaching around 2.5 meters. Therefore, outings at sea are discouraged.

While the tropical depression poses no immediate threat to Mauritius, residents should remain vigilant for changing weather patterns, particularly localized showers in the coming days.
