Dawood Rawat, the former president of the BAI Group, has returned to Mauritius after nearly ten years away. On Monday, December 9, the Port-Louis Tribunal decided to lift the arrest warrant that had been issued against him in April 2015.

This decision came after the police expressed no objections to the request for the warrant’s removal.

Magistrate Prashant Bissoon presided over the tribunal and approved the application.

It is important to note that the arrest warrant had been issued as part of an investigation into serious allegations, including money laundering, misappropriation of funds, and collusion in fraudulent activities.

Dawood Rawat had left Mauritius just before the collapse of the BAI Group, citing medical reasons for his departure.

Initially, the police had justified the warrant by stating the need to request a “Red Notice” from Interpol to locate the businessman.

Dawood Rawat returned to the country yesterday, December 8, accompanied by his wife.
