A building fire on Rue Royale in Port-Louis resulted in part of the structure collapsing onto a parked car, causing extensive damage. The vehicle, which bore a registration plate from May 2024, was parked near the building when the incident occurred.

Its owner, Patrice Monvoisin, was dining in a nearby restaurant at the time of the fire.

The blaze broke out in the unoccupied building, constructed of wood and metal, at approximately 8:15 PM on Friday.

The building is located near the Jummah Mosque. Firefighters from the Port-Louis and Triolet fire stations were deployed and worked for over two hours to bring the fire under control.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries related to the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
