Support for Palestine: A Call for a Clear Government Policy

A pro-Palestinian advocacy group held a demonstration outside Parliament yesterday, December 5, urging the government to establish a clear stance regarding its relations with Israel. This initiative, including several prominent figures, was formed last week after Ragini Kistnasamy presented her experiences from a recent trip to the West Bank.

Jean-Marie Richard, one of the group’s spokespersons, explained the motivation behind the formation of the committee:

“We decided that it was essential to educate the public about the current situation in Palestine. This is why this ad hoc committee was established.”

Richard emphasized the importance of understanding the rationale for boycotting Israel across economic, cultural, sporting, and diplomatic spheres.

“Canceling a concert is not an end in itself,” he remarked, criticizing the organization of such events as “indecent.”

The group is now calling for a statement from the Prime Minister regarding the country’s overall policy and its position on Israel.

Richard stated, “We need to cut diplomatic ties, much like what was done with apartheid-era South Africa.

The situation in Israel is even worse because a genocide is ongoing.” He stressed the urgent need for a clear and definitive policy on this matter.
